A photographic, perspectival examination and remembrance. The exhibition title could not be more objective. M 48° 15' 24.13'' N, 14° 30' 6.31'' E are the coordinates of Mauthausen. Marko Zink is not interested in documentation, but in irritation. He forces us to look closely and opens up a multi-layered discussion. With photographic means he makes visible a double disappearance: the extinction of people and the erasure of memory. An intensive confrontation with a past that is not time-barred. The art form chosen by Marko Zink is analogue photography. He processes his films before he exposes them. He boils or punches them, treats them with chlorine or ink eraser. With this filigree film material he photographs selected places in and outside the former concentration camp. With his work, Marko Zink reminds us that it is possible: what reminds us of the past and warns us of what is to come - everything could be seen. If we only want to.

Ein fotographisches, perspektivisches Auseinandersetzen und Erinnern. Der Ausstellungstitel könnte sachlicher nicht sein. M 48° 15' 24.13'' N, 14° 30' 6.31'' E sind die Koordinaten von Mauthausen. Es geht Marko Zink nicht um Dokumentation, sondern um Irritation. Er zwingt zum genauen Hinsehen und eröffnet eine vielschichtige Auseinandersetzung. Mit fotografischen Mitteln macht er ein zweifaches Verschwinden sichtbar: die Auslöschung von Menschen und die Tilgung von Erinnerung. Eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit einer Vergangenheit, die nicht verjährt. Die von Marko Zink gewählte Kunstform ist die analoge Fotografie. Er bearbeitet seine Filme, ehe er sie belichtet. Er kocht oder stanzt sie, behandelt sie mit Chlor oder Tintentod. Mit diesem filigranen Filmmaterial fotografiert er ausgewählte Orte in und außerhalb des ehemaligen Konzentrationslagers. Marko Zink erinnert uns mit seiner Arbeit daran, dass es möglich ist: Was an das Vergangene erinnert und was vor dem Kommenden warnt – es ließe sich alles sehen. Wenn wir nur wollen.
