The composer, songwriter and producer David Rubin has decided to produce an album that will present the survival stories and the associated memories and feelings of Jewish contemporary witnesses of the Shoa in a musical and lyrical way. The album "Sternkinder" is the result of intensive discussions with ten Holocaust survivors and a comprehensive examination of their fates. It was important to David Rubin to enter into a personal and empathic relationship with the participants in order to stage their feelings and thoughts unadulterated and in accordance with their essence in text and music. Since no one can tell more authentically about the Holocaust than those who had to experience it first-hand, the contemporary witnesses sang the songs on the album themselves. In addition, the album Sternkinder is intended to send a clear signal against hatred, hate and right-wing ideas. Above all, however, the stories of the participants are to be preserved for future generations and remain unforgotten, representing the fates of other survivors and all victims of the Shoah.

Der Komponist, Liedermacher und Produzent David Rubin hat sich dazu entschlossen ein Album zu produzieren, welches die Überlebensgeschichten und die damit verbundenen Erinnerungen und Gefühle jüdischer ZeitzeugInnen der Shoa musikalisch und textlich inszenieren soll. Das Album „Sternkinder“ ist das Ergebnis intensiver Gespräche mit zehn Überlebenden des Holocaust und einer umfassenden Auseinandersetzung mit deren Schicksalen. Dabei war es David Rubin wichtig, eine persönliche und empathische Beziehung mit den Mitwirkenden einzugehen, um deren Gefühle und Gedanken unverfälscht und ihrem Wesen entsprechend in Text und Musik zu inszenieren. Da niemand authentischer vom Holocaust erzählen kann als jene, die ihn am eigenen Leib erleben mussten, haben die ZeitzeugInnen die Lieder des Albums selbst eingesungen. Außerdem soll mit dem Album Sternkinder ein klares Zeichen gegen Hass, Hetze und rechtes Gedankengut gesetzt werden. Vor allem sollen damit jedoch die Geschichten der Mitwirkenden für die weiteren Generationen erhalten werden und stellvertretend für die Schicksale anderer Überlebender und aller Opfer der Shoa unvergessen bleiben.
