The book describes about 300 autobiographies of Jewish authors from about twenty countries in German and English, published as independent publications. The book is the result of decades of collecting and reading. The author has already dealt with autobiographical literature in the Lexikon der österreichischen Exilliteratur (Lexicon of Austrian Exile Literature) and in many other contexts.

Das Buch beschreibt an die 300 deutsch- und englischsprachige, als selbstständige Publikationen veröffentliche Autobiografien jüdischer Autoren und Autorinnen aus rund zwanzig Ländern. Das Buch ist das Ergebnis einer jahrzehntelangen Sammlungstätigkeit und Lektüreerfahrung. Die Autorin hat sich bereits im Lexikon der österreichischen Exilliteratur und in vielen anderen Zusammenhängen mit autobiografischer Literatur befasst.
