Siegfried Loewe, born on 22 June 1939 in Brussels, studied Romance Languages, German and History in Vienna, Paris and Perugia. His parents, who had fled Dortmund to Belgium, first placed him in private custody and later handed him over to an organization that protected and hid children from persecution. He survived the period of Nazi occupation. His parents, however, were deported and murdered. After the liberation, the two children were taken to a couple from Vienna who had fled from the Nazis to Belgium after the "Anschluss" in March 1938. Siegfried Loewe has not yet spoken about his past. Even in the family, his children know nothing about his fate. Only now is Professor Loewe willing to talk about it and make his story public. In accordance with Professor Loewe's wishes, the goal of the project is to create a biography based on autobiographical interviews with him and members of his family and by working through his extensive personal archive.

Siegfried Loewe, geboren am 22. Juni 1939 in Brüssel, studierte in Wien, Paris und Perugia Romanistik, Germanistik und Geschichte. Von den aus Dortmund nach Belgien geflüchteten Eltern zunächst in private Obhut und später einer Organisation übergeben, die Kinder vor der Verfolgung schützte und versteckte, überstand er die Zeit der nationalsozialistischen Besetzung. Die Eltern hingegen wurden deportiert und ermordet. Nach der Befreiung kamen die beiden Kinder zu einem aus Wien stammenden Ehepaar, das vor den Nationalsozialisten nach dem „Anschluss“ im März 1938 nach Belgien geflohen war. Siegfried Loewe sprach bisher nicht über seine Vergangenheit. Selbst in der Familie wissen seine Kinder nichts von seinem Schicksal. Erst jetzt ist Professor Loewe bereit, darüber zu reden und seine Geschichte öffentlich zu machen. Dem Wunsch von Herrn Professor Loewe folgend ist es Ziel des Projekts, auf der Grundlage lebensgeschichtlicher Interviews mit ihm und Mitgliedern seiner Familie sowie durch Aufarbeitung seines umfangreichen persönlichen Archivs eine Biografie zu erstellen, die in Buchform erscheinen soll.
