Description

Mrs Rosa Gitta Martl reads from her book "Stay strong". She tells about her childhood in Linz, about life in the two wooden caravans near the old railway bridge with her parents and siblings. She was never allowed to meet her grandparents and the many uncles and aunts and their children. More than 90% of her family members did not survive the Holocaust, as with most Sinti and Roma families. Despite her difficult inheritance, Rosa Gitta Martl remains strong, she fights for the recognition of her parents as victims of National Socialism, and as a long-time manager of the association Ketani for Sinti and Roma, she stands up for her minority. In conversation with Rosa Gitta Martl, both the consequences of the Holocaust and the current situation of the Sinti and Roma in Austria will be discussed.
