Placing Stones of Remembrance in St. Pölten

575 men, women and children of the Jewish Community of St. Pölten known by name were murdered in the Holocaust. As a sign of individual remembrance, stones of remembrance will continue to be set in 2020. 18x18 cm brass plates with names - for women also the name at birth, date of birth, date of deportation and where ascertainable also the date of death will be set in the pavement in front of the last voluntary home address. Twelve stones for 23 people will be placed at eleven addresses. This ceremony is to take place in cooperation with the current home owners and residents. An accompanying brochure with biographies and personal thoughts of the relatives will document the life and fate of the victims in an enduring way. These will also be available online in the virtual memorial book.

575 namentlich bekannte Männer, Frauen und Kinder der Israelitischen Kultusgemeine St. Pölten wurden im Holocaust ermordet. Als Zeichen des individuellen Gedenkens sollen auch im Jahr 2020 weiterhin Steine der Erinnerung gesetzt werden. 18x18 cm große Messingplatten mit Namen – bei Frauen auch der Geburtsname, Geburtsdatum, Datum der Deportation und wo eruierbar auch das Todesdatum werden im Gehsteig vor der letzten freiwilligen Wohnadresse eingelassen. Es werden zwölf Steine für 23 Personen an elf Adressen gesetzt. Diese Zeremonie soll in Zusammenarbeit mit den heutigen HausbesitzerInnen und -bewohnerInnen erfolgen. Eine Begleitbroschüre mit Biografien und persönlichen Gedanken der Angehörigen wird das Leben und Schicksal der Opfer nachhaltig dokumentieren. Diese werden auch online im virtuellen Memorbuch zu finden sein.
