The Baranka Park Memorial aims to remind the public of the Roma and Sinti who were abducted by the Nazi regime in 1941 and to set an example against forgetting. For a long time, the Hellerwiese, now called Baranka Park, was a camp and resting place for Sinti and Roma families who had traded their carpets, fabrics and horses as far as the Graz basin. This historical place was named after Harri Stojka's great-grandmother Baranka. The Roma as victims of National Socialism are barely anchored in public consciousness, which is why Roma and Sinti are often referred to as "the forgotten victims". The memorial service is intended to commemorate the victims and also to convey the life and culture of the Roma and Sinti as well as Jewish and Viennese culture. Well-known musicians, authors and public figures will appear on this day to present their culture and create a space to get to know each other and for cultural exchange, thus breaking down prejudices and contributing to peaceful coexistence. Speeches by people from civil society, culture and public life are an essential part of the programme at the Baranka Park commemoration.

Die Baranka-Park-Gedenkfeier hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Öffentlichkeit an die Roma und Sinti, die vom NS-Regime im Jahr 1941 verschleppt worden sind, zu erinnern und ein Zeichen gegen das Vergessen zu setzen. Lange Zeit war die Hellerwiese, heute Baranka-Park benannt, Lager- und Rastplatz der Sinti- und Roma-Familien, die ihre Teppiche, Stoffe und Pferde bis in das Grazer Becken gehandelt hatten. Dieser historische Ort wurde nach Harri Stojkas Ur-Großmutter Baranka benannt. Die Roma als Opfer des Nationalsozialismus sind im öffentlichen Bewusstsein kaum verankert, weshalb Roma und Sinti oft als „die vergessenen Opfer“ bezeichnet werden. Mit der Gedenkfeier soll der Opfer gedacht und auch das Leben und die Kultur der Roma und Sinti sowie der jüdischen und Wiener Kultur vermittelt werden. Namhafte MusikerInnen, AutorInnen und Personen des öffentlichen Lebens treten an diesem Tag auf, um ihre Kultur zu präsentieren und einen Raum für Kennenlernen und kulturellen Austausch zu schaffen, um so Vorurteile aufzubrechen und einen Beitrag für ein friedliches Zusammenleben zu leisten. Ansprachen von Personen aus der Zivilgesellschaft, Kultur und öffentlichem Leben sind bei der Baranka-Park-Gedenkfeier ein wesentlicher Bestandteil des Programms.
