This monograph deals in depth with the current debates about Jewish places of remembrance, the interweaving of Jewish cultures within European societies, and the current overlap of Spatial Studies with Memory Studies and of Jewish Studies with Austrian Studies in the international cultural studies field. The book will therefore be read by a broad public: specialists in Central European Jewish culture and history, university and specialist libraries with a focus on Jewish or Austrian history, as well as scholars, students and lay people with an interest in Austria and Jewish culture and, in general, in cemetery culture, space and memory in the modern cityscape.

Die Monografie befasst sich intensiv mit den aktuellen Auseinandersetzungen um jüdische Erinnerungsorte, den Verflechtungen jüdischer Kulturen innerhalb der europäischen Gesellschaften sowie den aktuellen Überschneidungen von Spatial Studies mit Memory Studies und von Jewish Studies mit Austrian Studies im internationalen kulturwissenschaftlichen Bereich. Somit wird das Buch auf ein breites Publikum treffen: SpezialistInnen der zentraleuropäischen jüdischen Kultur und Geschichte, Universitäts- und Fachbibliotheken mit einem Fokus auf jüdische bzw. österreichische Geschichte sowie WissenschaftlerInnen, StudentInnen und Laien mit einem Interesse für Österreich und jüdische Kultur und allgemein für Friedhofskultur, Raum und Erinnerung im modernen Stadtbild.
