This cinema and TV documentary focuses on the social and political circumstances surrounding the Salzburg Festival with its Jewish masterminds Max Reinhardt and Hugo von Hofmannsthal from the beginning of 1920 until the Nazi takeover in 1938, the aryanization of the festival and the raid on Jewish property in the city of Salzburg and the surrounding area. The history of the Salzburg Festival is constantly accompanied by anti-Semitism, which already had a centuries-old tradition and culminated in expulsion, persecution and the burning at the stake by the local inquisition.

Im Mittelpunkt dieser Kino- und TV-Dokumentation stehen die sozialen und politischen Begleitumstände der Salzburger Festspiele mit ihren jüdischen Masterminds Max Reinhardt und Hugo von Hofmannsthal von ihrem Anfang 1920 bis zur nationalsozialistischen Machtübernahme 1938 und die Arisierung des Festivals sowie der Raubzug am jüdischen Eigentum in der Stadt Salzburg und Umgebung. Die Geschichte der Salzburger Festspiele ist ständig vom Antisemitismus begleitet, der bereits eine jahrhundertlange Tradition hatte und in Vertreibung, Verfolgung und auf den Scheiterhaufen der lokalen Inquisition gipfelte.
