„Alles Mazzes oder was?“ Eine vierteilige Gedenkveranstaltung mit Lesungen im Theater Akzent

 

Four concert events with readings are planned in memory of Austria's persecuted and expelled Jewish composers, writers and artists. After the successful and very well-attended cycle "The Dance of the Golem", Bela Koreny will once again go in search of the traces of banished Jewish artists and their fates. Starting from Vienna, the close artistic connections to Berlin, Hollywood and Budapest during and after the war will be shown. In doing so, the audience will be reminded of the extensive influence and subsequent loss to the Austrian and European cultural world caused by the murder and expulsion of Jewish artists. Works by Walter Jurmann, Hedy Lamarr, Fritz Rotter, Greta Keller, Max Steiner, Billy Wilder, Fritz Lang, Molly Picon will be performed, as well as works by Fritz Rotter, Werner Heymann, Robert Gilbert, Paul Abraham, Robert Stolz, Kurt Weill, Fritz Grünbaum, Richard Tauber, and works by Emmerich Kalman, Franz Molnar, Imre Kertesz, Miklos Rozsa, Leo Weiner, and works by Gerhard Bronner, Georg Kreisler, Hermann Leopoldi, Anton Kuh.

Geplant sind vier Konzertveranstaltungen mit Lesungen in Gedenken an die jüdischen verfolgten und vertriebenen Komponisten, SchriftstellerInnen und KünstlerInnen Österreichs. Nach dem erfolgreichen sehr gut besuchten Zyklus „Der Tanz des Golem“ begibt sich Bela Koreny erneut auf die Spurensuche jüdischer vertriebener KünstlerInnen und deren Schicksale. Ausgehend von Wien werden die engen künstlerischen Verbindungen zu Berlin, Hollywood und Budapest während und nach dem Krieg aufgezeigt. Dabei soll dem Publikum der umfangreiche Einfluss und darauffolgende Verlust für die österreichische sowie europäische Kulturwelt durch die Ermordung und Vertreibung jüdischer KünstlerInnen in Erinnerung gerufen werden.
