Description
Within the framework of this project, the ESRA Psychosocial Center cares for those very elderly former victims of the Nazi regime living in Austria today who are suffering from a severe chronic or life-threatening illness in their last stages of life. Many of these survivors have developed trauma sequelae disorders as a result of their severe traumatization. The illness as well as the dying process can trigger retraumatization in many cases.

Im Rahmen dieses Projektes betreut das Psychosoziale Zentrum ESRA jene heute in Österreich lebenden, hoch betagten ehemaligen Opfer des NS-Regimes, bei denen in ihrer letzten Lebensphase eine schwere chronische oder lebensbedrohende Krankheit auftritt. Viele dieser Überlebenden haben als Folge ihrer schweren Traumatisierung Traumafolgestörungen entwickelt. Die Erkrankung sowie der Sterbeprozess können in vielen Fällen eine Retraumatisierung auslösen.
