The year 2021 marks the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the large-scale deportations. In 1941/42, more than 45,000 Austrian Jews were deported from Vienna on 45 transports. The majority of the more than 66,000 Austrian Shoah victims were taken from the Aspang railway station to the ghettos, extermination camps and murder sites in the East. To mark this anniversary, a project team is developing the travelling exhibition "The Viennese System of Deportations - New Perspectives on Austria and the Shoah", which will be shown at the Cultural Forum London and other Austrian cultural forums as well as in contemporary history museums and memorial sites. The aim of the exhibition is to convey knowledge about the persecution and murder of Austrian Jews, but also about the involvement of Austrian perpetrators. This exhibition is also intended to show that today's Austria is coming to terms with its Nazi past, commemorating the victims and acknowledging its own shared responsibility.

Im Jahr 2021 jährt sich zum 80. Mal der Beginn der großen Deportationen. In den Jahren 1941/42 wurden mehr als 45.000 österreichische Jüdinnen und Juden in 45 Transporten aus Wien deportiert. Der Großteil der über 66.000 österreichischen Shoah-Opfer wurde vom Aspangbahnhof aus in die Ghettos, Vernichtungslager und Mordstätten im Osten gebracht. Aus diesem Anlass erarbeitet ein Projektteam die Wanderausstellung „Das Wiener System der Deportationen – Neue Perspektiven auf Österreich und die Shoah“, die im Kulturforum London und weiteren österreichischen Kulturforen sowie in zeitgeschichtlichen Museen und Gedenkstätten gezeigt werden soll. Ziel der Ausstellung ist es, das Wissen um die Verfolgung und Ermordung der österreichischen Jüdinnen und Juden, aber auch über die Mitwirkung österreichischer Täter zu vermitteln. Mit dieser Ausstellung soll auch gezeigt werden, dass das heutige Österreich sich mit seiner NS-Vergangenheit auseinandersetzt, der Opfer gedenkt und sich zur eigenen Mitverantwortung bekennt.
