Description
The Baranka Park remembrance ceremony will be organised and implemented for the 13th time by the Voice of Diversity association on 20 May 2021 with the aim of reminding the public of the Roma and Sinti who were deported by the Nazi regime in 1941 and to send a signal against forgetting. For a long time, the Hellerwiese, today named Baranka Park, was the camp and resting place of the Sinti and Roma families who had traded their carpets, fabrics and horses all the way to the Graz basin. This historical place was named after Harri Stojka's great-grandmother Baranka. She and around 200 other family members who had lived on the Hellerwiese were deported by the Nazi regime in 1941.

Die Baranka-Park-Gedenkfeier wird am 20. Mai 2021 zum 13. Mal vom Verein Voice of Diversity organisiert und umgesetzt mit dem Ziel, die Öffentlichkeit an die Roma und Sinti, die vom NS-Regime im Jahr 1941 verschleppt worden sind, zu erinnern und ein Zeichen gegen das Vergessen zu setzen. Lange Zeit war die Hellerwiese, heute Baranka-Park benannt, Lager- und Rastplatz der Sinti- und Roma-Familien, die ihre Teppiche, Stoffe und Pferde bis in das Grazer Becken gehandelt hatten. Dieser historische Ort wurde nach Harri Stojkas Ur-Großmutter Baranka benannt. Sie und ca. 200 weitere Familienmitglieder, die auf der Hellerwiese gelebt hatten, wurden 1941 vom NS-Regime verschleppt.
