Placing stones of remembrance in St. Pölten 2021

577 men, women and children known by name from the Jewish Community of St. Pölten were murdered in the Holocaust. As a sign of individual remembrance, the Institute for Jewish History in Austria will continue to place stones of remembrance for these people in 2021. 18 x 18 cm brass plates with names – for women also their maiden name – date of birth, date of deportation and, where ascertainable, date of death are set into the pavement in front of the last voluntary residential address.

577 namentlich bekannte Männer, Frauen und Kinder der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde St. Pölten wurden im Holocaust ermordet. Als Zeichen des individuellen Gedenkens fährt das Institut für jüdische Geschichte Österreichs auch im Jahr 2021 damit fort, für diese Menschen Steine der Erinnerung zu setzen. 18 x 18 cm großen Messingplatten mit Namen – bei Frauen auch der Geburtsname –, Geburtsdatum, Datum der Deportation und wo eruierbar Todesdatum werden im Gehsteig vor der letzten freiwilligen Wohnadresse eingelassen.
