Description
The aim of the project is to erect the sculpture “Bust of Powerlessness” in the form of a feminine torso. Originally, the late artist Arik Brauer wanted to produce a ceramic figure for the memorial. Now his daughter Timna Brauer is taking on this task. With this project, the City of Linz is creating a sign of remembrance in the context of a culture of remembrance for coming to terms with its own Nazi history. With the “Bust of Powerlessness,” an already existing memorial will receive a clear and striking upgrade. The memorial sculpture shall subsequently play a role in the Botanical Garden's educational program, both for children as part of school tours and for adults.

Ziel des vorliegenden Projekts ist die Errichtung der Skulptur „Büste der Ohnmacht“ in Form eines femininen Oberkörpers. Ursprünglich wollte der verstorbene Künstler Arik Brauer eine Keramikfigur für das Mahnmal herstellen. Nun übernimmt dies seine Tochter Timna Brauer. Mit diesem Projekt setzt die Stadt Linz ein Erinnerungszeichen im Sinne der Gedenkkultur bei der Aufarbeitung der eigenen NS-Geschichte. Mit der „Büste der Ohnmacht“ wird ein schon bestehendes Mahnmal eine deutliche und markante Aufwertung erfahren. Die Erinnerungsskulptur sollte in weiterer Folge im Vermittlungsprogramm des Botanischen Gartens sowohl für Kinder im Rahmen von Schulführungen als auch für Erwachsene eine Rolle spielen.
