Description
In the course of a marathon reading from the book “Freedom Came in May”, Maria Farantouri sang the “Mauthausen Cantata” and other songs penned by Iakovos Kambanellis. The Mauthausen Cantata, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, thus represents the lyrical and musical “translation” of the book “Freedom Came in May” by Iakovos Kambanellis.
The aim of the project is to include a DVD with all 15 songs sung by Maria Farantouri with the book “Freedom Came in May”, thus increasing the didactic effect of the book.

Im Zuge einer Marathonlesung aus dem Buch „Die Freiheit kam im Mai“ sang Maria Farantouri die „Mauthausen Cantata“ und andere Lieder aus der Feder von Iakovos Kambanellis. Die Mauthausen Cantata, vertont von Mikis Theodorakis, stellt somit die lyrische und musikalische „Übersetzung“ des Buches „Die Freiheit kam im Mai“ von Iakovos Kambanellis dar. Ziel des Projekts ist es, dem Buch „Die Freiheit kam im Mai“ eine DVD mit allen 15 Liedern gesungen von Maria Farantouri beizulegen und so die „didaktische“ Wirkung des Buches zu erhöhen.
