By taking on the legacy of the survivors of the Mauthausen concentration camp and its subcamps, the Mauthausen Committee Austria has an important focus in its awareness-raising work with young people. An important part here is on the topic of civil courage, democracy and respectful coexistence. The Mauthausen Committee Austria has been working with young people for many years to counter racism, discrimination and sexism and to use multimedia methods to promote media literacy and debunk fake news and conspiracy theories. As part of the project, the Mauthausen Committee Austria has developed information, education and training programmes to specifically promote civil courage on online platforms among young people.

Das Mauthausen Komitee Österreich hat mit der Übernahme des Vermächtnisses der Überlebenden des KZ Mauthausen und seiner Außenlager einen wichtigen Schwerpunkt in der Sensibilisierungsarbeit mit Jugendlichen. Ein wichtiger Teil liegt hier auf dem Thema Zivilcourage, Demokratie und respektvolles Miteinander. Das MKÖ arbeitet seit vielen Jahren mit Jugendlichen, um Rassismus, Diskriminierung und Sexismus entgegenzuwirken und mit multimedialen Methoden Media Literacy zu fördern und Fake News und Verschwörungstheorien zu entkräften. Im Rahmen des Projekts hat das MKÖ Informations-, Schulungs- und Trainingsangebote entwickelt, um Zivilcourage auf Online-Plattformen unter Jugendlichen gezielt zu fördern.
