This project was written over three decades by Franz Richard Reiter at the request of Anni and Heinrich Sussmann on behalf of their murdered son Georg Samuel Sussmann. Heinrich Sussmann, called "Suss" by his friends, was a master forger for the Résistance, especially for Cartes d'identité, French official identity papers. He could not have accomplished this task without his wife Anni. All the documents he forged "held", none were discovered. The two were among the most wanted people in France during the Nazi era. They were able to identify the people for whom they had forged identity cards because they knew their photos, they had "baptised" them, established their new places of birth. Both were arrested, tortured, Suss deported to Auschwitz concentration camp, Anni to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Anni gave birth to a boy, Georg Samuel Sussmann, in Birkenau. According to Anni's testimony, Mengele came into the barracks and threw the baby into the oven. Neither of them was ever able to overcome this trauma. Both Anni and Heinrich survived Auschwitz. Years later, shortly before Anni Sussmann died, she made a request to Franz Richard Reiter that he write a book describing their life stories until their liberation. Her wish was that her murdered son, Georg Samuel Sussmann, should be the author. Now this book is available.

Das vorliegende Projekt wurde über drei Jahrzehnte auf Wunsch von Anni und Heinrich Sussmann im Namen ihres ermordeten Sohnes Georg Samuel Sussmann von Franz Richard Reiter verfasst. Heinrich Sussmann, von seinen Freunden "Suss" genannt, war Meisterfälscher der Résistance, vor allem für Cartes d´identité, französische amtliche Ausweispapiere. Ohne seine Frau Anni hätte er diese Aufgabe nicht vollbringen können. Alle von ihm gefälschten Dokumente "hielten", keines "flog auf". Die beiden zählten in der NS-Zeit zu den meistgesuchten Personen in Frankreich. Sie konnten die Menschen, für die die Ausweise gefälscht worden waren, identifizieren, da sie deren Fotos kannten, sie hatten sie "getauft", ihre neuen Geburtsorte festgelegt. Beide wurden verhaftet, gefoltert, Suss in das KZ Auschwitz, Anni in das KZ Auschwitz-Birkenau deportiert. Anni schenkte in Birkenau einem Buben, Georg Samuel Sussmann, das Leben. Laut Annis Zeugenschaft kam Mengele in die Baracke und warf das Baby in den Ofen. Dieses Trauma konnten beide nie überwinden. Sowohl Anni als auch Heinrich konnten Auschwitz überleben. Jahre später, kurz bevor Anni Sussmann starb, äußerte sie die Bitte an Franz Richard Reiter, er möge ein Buch verfassen, das die Lebensgeschichten der beiden bis zu ihrer Befreiung schildern solle. Ihr Wunsch war, dass ihr ermordeter Sohn, Georg Samuel Sussmann, als Autor firmiere. Jetzt liegt dieses Buch vor.
