Description
The 8 May 2023 marks the 78th anniversary of the unconditional surrender of the German Wehrmacht and the official end of the Second World War in Europe. On this day, the Mauthausen Committee Austria (MKÖ) is organising the Festival of Joy for the 11th time, in commemoration of the victims and the joy of liberation from the Nazi reign of terror. In 2023, the Festival of Joy will be dedicated to the topic “Civil Courage” and will take place on Vienna’s Heldenplatz.

Am 8. Mai 2023 jährt sich zum 78. Mal die bedingungslose Kapitulation der Deutschen Wehrmacht und das offizielle Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges in Europa. An diesem Tag veranstaltet das Mauthausen Komitee Österreich (MKÖ) im Gedenken an die Opfer und die Freude über die Befreiung der NS-Terrorherrschaft bereits zum 11. Mal das Fest der Freude. Im Jahr 2023 widmet sich das Fest der Freude dem thematischen Schwerpunkt "Zivilcourage" und findet am Wiener Heldenplatz statt.
