Description

The image of Jews in the majority society is largely shaped by misunderstandings. The exhibition “100 Misunderstandings about and among Jews" traces these misunderstandings, searches for the background to them, questions them and confronts them with a wink. In a total of 6 chapters, the exhibition looks for misunderstandings about and among Jews: • Jewish Geniuses, Muscle-Jews, Eastern Jewish Romanticism, Salonières • Standards of behaviour at memorial sites, Holocaust business and Holocaust education • Jewish humour, the Christian-Jewish relationship, Jewish revenge • Purity, circumcision, Jewish celebrities • "Jewish" appearance, clothing, Jewish names, Jewish symbols • Philosemitism, prejudice against Jewish dietary laws and marriage laws

Das Bild der Mehrheitsgesellschaft von Jüdinnen und Juden ist in weiten Teilen von Missverständnissen geprägt. Die Ausstellung „100 Missverständnisse über und unter Juden“ spürt diesen Missverständnissen nach, sucht nach den Hintergründen, hinterfragt sie und begegnet ihnen mit einem Augenzwinkern.
