The research project focuses on the visual documents and images of the prisoners in the Theresienstadt ghetto. The aim is to systematically locate the places depicted in surviving visual material in order to learn more about the fates of the persecuted and the history of the ghetto from their records. The project is intended to contribute towards anchoring the images that moved the persecuted women, men and children in the ghettos and concentration camps in the collective visual memory.

Im Mittelpunkt des Forschungsprojekts stehen die visuellen Dokumente und Bildwerke der Gefangenen im Ghetto Theresienstadt. Es sollen überlieferte bildliche Darstellungen systematisch räumlich verortet werden, um dadurch näher über die Schicksale der Verfolgten und über die Geschichte des Ghettos aus deren Aufzeichnungen zu erfahren. Das Vorhaben soll dazu beitragen jene Bilder, die die verfolgten Frauen, Männer und Kinder in den Ghettos und Konzentrationslagern bewegt haben im kollektiven visuellen Gedächtnis zu verankern.
