Description
“Cut off your sleeve and run away – Čin či baj taj naš!” is a play which casts a spotlight on 600 years of Roma history and of anti-gypsyism in Austria, from the letter of consignment of King Sigismund in 1423 to the National Socialist racial scientist Eva Justin and the extermination of hundreds of thousand Roma and Sinti in the National Socialist concentration camps, from the policies of assimilation of Maria Theresia to the present-day bans on begging. In May 2009, the premiere of the project “Cut off your sleeve and run away – Čin či baj taj naš!” took place In Vienna. The positive response and the success of the play gave rise to a tour of Austria and performances for schools.

„Schneid deinen Ärmel ab und lauf davon - ?in ?i baj taj naš!“ ist ein Theaterstück, das Schlaglichter auf 600 Jahre Geschichte der Roma und des Antiziganismus in Österreich wirft, vom Geleitbrief König Sigismunds 1423 bis zur NS-Rasseforscherin Eva Justin und der Vernichtung von hunderttausenden Roma und Sinti in den nationalsozialistischen Konzentrationslagern, von der Assimilationspolitik Maria Theresias bis zu den heutigen Bettelverboten. Im Mai 2009 fand die Uraufführung des Projektes: „Schneid deinen Ärmel ab und lauf davon - Cin ci baj taj nas“ in Wien statt. Die positiven Kritiken und der Erfolg des Stückes gaben Anlass dazu, im Herbst 2009 damit auf Tournee durch Österreich zu gehen sowie Schulvorstellungen anzubieten.
