Description
The planned memorial is to be understood as a digital pinboard to be created as an “open collage” on which students can work again and again. The project idea is an open invitation to SFU students to participate. A broken vessel (abstracted), a bowl with a broken inscription “CIVILISATION” – fragments of all types and kinds (condensed: short texts, digital photos and videos, voice comments, etc.) on the topic trickle out of this bowl onto a digital pinboard. The digital pinboard as an “open collage”": Such an open collage enables a lively, truthful relationship between the viewers and their memorial. Instead of letting the past freeze monumentally, it is important to animate Holocaust memory – in its continuing non-closure – through joint memory work (interaction as well as participation): Search for the memory of the absent in one’s own inner self – personally experienced remembering, one's own memory experience – by means of this digital Holocaust memorial.

Das geplante Mahnmal ist ein zu errichtendes digitales Pinboard zu verstehen, als „offene Collage“ an der Studierende immer wieder arbeiten können. Die Projektidee ist eine offene Einladung zur Partizipation an Studierende der SFU. Ein zerbrochenes Gefäß (abstrahiert), eine Schale mit gebrochener Aufschrift "ZIVILISATION" – aus dieser Schale rieseln Fragmente aller Art und Weise (Verdichtetes: Kurz-Texte, digitale Fotos und Videos, Sprachkommentare etc.) zum Thema auf ein digitales Pinboard. Das digitale Pinboard als "offene Collage": Eine solche offene Collage ermöglicht lebendige, wahrhaftige Beziehung zwischen den Betrachter*innen und ihrem Memorial. Anstatt die Vergangenheit monumental erstarren zu lassen, gilt es, Holocaust-Erinnerung – in ihrer fortdauernden Nichtabgeschlossenheit – durch gemeinsame Erinnerungsarbeit (Interaktion wie Partizipation) zu beleben: Suche nach Erinnerung des Abwesenden im eigenen Inneren - selbst erlebtes Erinnern, eigene Erinnerungserfahrung – mittels dieses Digital-Holocaust-Memorials.
