The Poland-Holocaust Study Trip, organised by the Austrian Service Abroad, takes place annually and is a core project in the preparation of the memorial service candidates. It is implemented in cooperation with the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre and the Holocaust Museum Los Angeles. The director of the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre Tali Nates, whose father was on the list of Oskar Schindler, is the educational leader of the trip. The Holocaust Museum Los Angeles is sending participants from their Education Department, experts who will benefit the candidates. The Poland Study Tour will take place from 17 to 23 July 2023 and is a 7-day practical complement to the theoretical study of the Holocaust and related topics, an integral part of the preparation for memorial service. Destinations of the study trip: • Visiting and learning about historically relevant sites in the context of the Shoah and Jewish life in Poland. • Visiting existing partner organisations of the Memorial Service • Participation in sessions, workshops, discussions and reflections on the Holocaust and Jewish life The primary intention is to prepare memorial service participants who will subsequently represent Austria in recognised institutions worldwide and who will teach, research and be involved in guided tours on the topic of the Shoah.

Die vom Verein Österreichischer Auslandsdienst organisierte Polen-Holocaust-Studienreise findet jährlich statt und ist ein Kernprojekt der Vorbereitung der Gedenkdienst-Kandidat*innen. Es wird in Kooperation mit dem Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre und dem Holocaust Museum Los Angeles umgesetzt. Die Direktorin des Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre Tali Nates, deren Vater auf der Liste von Oskar Schindler stand, ist die pädagogische Leiterin der Reise. Das Holocaust Museum Los Angeles schickt Teilnehmer*innen aus ihrem Education Department, Expert*innen, die den Kandidat*innen zugutekommen. Die Polen-Studienreise findet statt von 17. bis 23. Juli 2023 und ist ein 7-tägiges praktisches Komplement zur theoretischen Auseinandersetzung mit dem Holocaust und verbundenen Themen, ein integraler Bestandteil der Gedenkdienst-Vorbereitung. Ziele der Studienreise: • Besuchen von und Lernen über historisch relevante Stätten im Kontext der Shoah und des jüdischen Lebens in Polen • Besuch bestehender Partnerorganisationen des Gedenkdienstes • Teilnahme an Sitzungen, Workshops, Diskussionen und Reflexionen zum Thema Holocaust und jüdisches Leben Die primäre Absicht ist die Vorbereitung von Gedenkdiener*innen, die in weiterer Folge Österreich weltweit in anerkannten Einrichtungen vertreten werden und zum Thema Shoah unterrichten, forschen und in Führungen involviert sein werden.
