Series of events organised by the Oberpullendorf and Deutschkreutz music schools in cooperation with shalom.nachbar in Lockenhaus in the former synagogue in Kobersdorf in Burgenland. Pupils and teachers from the two music schools in Central Burgenland will embark on a musical search for traces as part of the “MUSIC.REMEMBRANCE.SCHOOL” project. The musical paths of remembrance centre on Jewish Burgenland and compositions by Jewish composers. Learning the pieces of music and getting to know the biographies of the authors should sensitise the young people to remembering and commemorating their expelled Jewish neighbours and the lost Jewish history of their region. The focus is not only on the Sheva Kehillot, but also on the long-silenced and in some cases still unknown former Jewish life in the small villages, as well as the major themes of the Holocaust, extermination camps, resistance, antisemitism, emigration and hope. Working together with schools in the region is a particular focus of the project. As part of this co-operation, readings of literary texts by Jewish authors and historical texts about Jewish life in Burgenland will also take place. Films, videos, dance performances, new media, historical sound recordings etc. are also part of the programme concept.

Veranstaltungsreihe der Musikschulen Oberpullendorf und Deutschkreutz in Kooperation mit shalom.nachbar in Lockenhaus in der ehemaligen Synagoge in Kobersdorf in Burgenland. Schüler:innen und Pädagog:innen der beiden Musikschulen im Mittelburgenland werden sich im Rahmen des Projekts „MUSIK.GEDENK.SCHULE“ auf eine musikalische Spurensuche begeben. Im Zentrum der musikalischen Wege des Erinnerns steht das jüdische Burgenland und Kompositionen jüdischer Komponist:innen. Das Erlernen der Musikstücke und das Kennenlernen der Biografien der Autor:innen sollen die Jugendlichen sensibilisieren für das Erinnern und Gedenken an die vertrieben jüdischen Nachbarn und die verschwundene jüdische Geschichte ihrer Region. Nicht nur die Sheva Kehillot stehen im Fokus, auch das lang verschwiegene und zum Teil noch immer unbekannte ehemalige jüdische Leben in den kleinen Dörfern wird thematisiert, ebenso die großen Themen Holocaust, Vernichtungslager, Widerstand, Antisemitismus, Emigration, Hoffnung. Eine Zusammenarbeit und Kooperation mit den Schulen der Region ist ein besonderer Schwerpunkt des Projekts. Im Rahmen dieser Kooperation werden auch Lesungen von literarischen Texten jüdischer Autor:innen und von historischen Texten über das jüdische Leben im Burgenland stattfinden. Auch Filme, Videos, Tanz-Performances, Neue Medien, historische Tonaufnahmen usw. sind Teil des Programmkonzepts.
