In partnership with the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol, the University of Klagenfurt and the “Doku Lebensgeschichten” association at the University of Vienna, around 10 learning settings and learning opportunities with descendants of Jewish victims of Nazi persecution will be tested and scientifically evaluated in 2024 and 2025, including as part of a symposium to be held at the University of Klagenfurt in September 2024. The aim is to perform a quantitative analysis of the potential that learning arrangements using methods of biographical storytelling with descendants have for political and historical educational work in schools and to clarify which special aspects need to be taken into account. The results of the pilot project will be incorporated into the development of recommendations for the future of the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research’s contemporary witness programme, for educational work with descendants, as well as into the conception of guidelines and accompanying materials for educators. As part of the project, different storytelling and learning settings with descendants of victims of Nazi persecution and pupils will be trialled and researched. The aim of the research is to record the experiences and perspectives of all those involved in the educational process in as much detail as possible, to relate them to each other and to gain insights into the possibilities and limitations of narrative learning arrangements with descendants of Jewish victims of Nazi persecution by incorporating theoretical knowledge.

In Kooperation mit der Pädagogischen Hochschule Tirol, der Universität Klagenfurt und dem Verein „Doku Lebensgeschichten“ an der Universität Wien werden 2024 und 2025 ca. 10 Lernsettings und Lernmöglichkeiten mit Nachkommen jüdischer NS-Verfolgter erprobt und wissenschaftlich evaluiert, u.a. im Rahmen eins Fachsymposiums im September 2024 an der Universität Klagenfurt. Ziel ist die qualitative Analyse des Potenzials, das Lernarrangements mit Methoden des biographischen Erzählens mit Nachkommen für die politische und historische Bildungsarbeit an Schulen haben, und die Klärung, welche Besonderheiten dabei zu berücksichtigen sind. Die Ergebnisse des Pilotprojekts gehen in die Entwicklung von Empfehlungen für die Zukunft des Zeitzeug:innen-Programms des BMBWF, für die pädagogische Arbeit mit Nachkommen, sowie in die Konzeption von Leitlinien und Begleitmaterialien für Pädagoginnen und Pädagogen ein. Im Rahmen des Projekts werden exemplarisch unterschiedliche Erzähl-Lern-Settings mit Nachkommen von NS-Verfolgten und Schülerinnen und Schülern erprobt und forschend begleitet. Ziel der Forschung ist es, möglichst detailliert die Erfahrungen und Perspektiven aller am Bildungsprozess Beteiligten zu erfassen, miteinander in Beziehung zu setzen und unter Einbeziehung theoretischen Wissens Erkenntnisse über die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen narrativer Lernarrangements mit Nachkommen von jüdischen NS-Verfolgten zu gewinnen.
