How to deal curatorially with continuities of Nazism in the 21st century? The anthology “curating. exhibition theory & practice volume 7” is dedicated to curatorial formats and strategies that address and work with mechanisms of suppression and denial of Nazi history. The contributions analyse the normalisation of fascist aesthetics and discourses. They position themselves within new debates on the politics of remembrance and look for ways to confront histories of violence. They reflect on contexts and projects in museums, universities and public spaces. Questions that accompany the book are: What role does memory play in curatorial projects between confrontation and dismissal? Do we deal with the subject in order to avoid having to deal with it? Or do we rather not want to show it in order to confront ourselves with the continuities in the present?

Wie mit Kontinuitäten des Nazismus im 21. Jahrhundert kuratorisch umgehen? Der Sammelband "curating. ausstellungstheorie & praxis Band 7" widmet sich kuratorischen Formaten und Strategien, die Mechanismen des Verdrängens und Verleugnens der Nazi-Geschichte adressieren und damit arbeiten. Die Beiträge analysieren die Normalisierung faschistischer Ästhetiken und Diskurse. Sie positionieren sich innerhalb neuer Debatten um Erinnerungspolitiken und suchen Möglichkeiten, sich Gewaltgeschichten zu stellen. Sie reflektieren Kontexte und Projekte in Museen, Hochschulen und im öffentlichen Raum. Fragen, die das Buch begleiten, sind: Welche Rolle spielt Erinnerung in kuratorischen Projekten zwischen Auseinandersetzung und Entledigung? Beschäftigen wir uns mit dem Thema, um uns nicht damit beschäftigen zu müssen? Oder wollen wir es nicht vielmehr zeigen, um uns mit den Kontinuitäten in der Gegenwart zu konfrontieren?
