A multimedia audio tour through the history of the Ankerbrot factory during the Nazi era

Ein multimedialer Audiorundweg durch die Geschichte der Ankerbrotfabrik während der NS-Zeit

 

The ARTWALK through the former Ankerbrotfabrik is an art and culture project backed by scholars that takes a critical look at the “aryanisation” of the factory during the Nazi era, the deployment of Jewish-Hungarian forced labourers and how this history is dealt with today. It is intended to make a targeted contribution to coming to terms with the Nazi atrocities and to commemorate the victims on site, some of whom remain unseen there. To this day, there is still no information or memorial plaque on the site that does this. During the approx. 2-hour tour, visitors go in search of traces and experience 6 artistic interventions of theatre, live music, video projections, aerial silks and expansive installations, which refer to what they have heard at the respective locations and scenically expand. Furthermore, teaching materials will be produced, discussions will be facilitated after the performance and pupils will be guided in designing a memorial in order to promote a deeper understanding of the significance of history in public space.

Der ARTWALK durch die ehemalige Ankerbrotfabrik ist ein wissenschaftlich begleitetes Kunst- und Kulturprojekt, welches sich mit der "Arisierung" des Betriebes während der NS-Zeit, der Beschäftigung jüdisch-ungarischer Zwangsarbeiter:innen sowie dem Umgang mit dieser Geschichte heute kritisch auseinandersetzt. Es soll damit gezielt einen Anteil an der Aufarbeitung der nationalsozialistischen Gräueltaten leisten und zum weiterführenden Andenken an die teilweise immer noch unsichtbaren Opfer vor Ort erinnern. Auf dem Areal fehlt bis heute eine Hinweis- oder Gedenktafel, die dies tun könnte. Bei dem ca. 2-stündigen Rundgang gehen die Besucher:innen auf Spurensuche und erleben 6 künstlerische Interventionen von Theater, Live-Musik, Videoprojektionen, Aerial-Silk und raumgreifenden Installationen, welche sich an den jeweiligen Orten auf das Gehörte beziehen und es szenisch erweitern. Weiters werden Unterrichtsmaterialien erstellt, Diskussionen im Anschluss an die Aufführung ermöglicht und Schüler:innen zur Gestaltung eines Denkmals angeleitet, um ein tieferes Verständnis für die Bedeutung der Geschichte im öffentlichen Raum zu fördern.
