Erschließung und Bestandserhaltung der beantworteten Korrespondenz Simon Wiesenthals und des Dokumentationszentrums des Bundes Jüdischer Verfolgter des Naziregimes - BJVN nach/aus Wien, 1968-1991

 

With the archive of Holocaust survivor Simon Wiesenthal and his organisation (the Association of Jewish Persecutees of the Nazi Regime), the Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) houses one of Austria's most important collections on the history and legacy of the Holocaust, its victims and survivors. The project will further advance the cataloguing and preservation of the answered correspondence of Simon Wiesenthal and the Association of Jewish Persecutees of the Nazi Regime from 1968 to 1991. Within three years, the VWI will index the correspondence of these years at individual document level, including name, place and organisation indexes and keywords. The catalogue and the detailed description of the file group will be made accessible via the archive information system on the VWI website and relevant scientific research tools in compliance with legal regulations. During cataloguing, the letters will be prepared for preservation in accordance with archival standards.

Mit dem Archiv des Holocaust-Überlebenden Simon Wiesenthal und seiner Organisation (BJVN) beherbergt das Wiener Wiesenthal Institut für Holocaust-Studien (VWI) eine der wichtigsten Sammlungen Österreichs zur Geschichte und zum Erbe des Holocaust, seiner Opfer und Überlebenden. Das Projekt treibt die Erschließung und Bestandserhaltung der beantworteten Korrespondenz von Simon Wiesenthal und des BJVN von 1968 bis 1991 weiter voran. Innerhalb von drei Jahren wird das VWI die Korrespondenz dieser Jahrgänge auf Einzeldokumentenebene erschließen, einschließlich Namens-, Orts-, Organisationsindizes und Schlagwörtern. Der Katalog und die ausführliche Beschreibung der Aktengruppe werden über das Archivinformationssystem auf der Website des VWI und einschlägige wissenschaftliche Recherchetools unter Beachtung der gesetzlichen Regelungen zugänglich gemacht. Während der Erschließung werden die Briefe gemäß archivtechnischer Standards für die Bestandserhaltung vorbereitet.
