As part of the artistic research project einverleibt (“ownership recorded in the land register”), Gisela Erlacher and Renate Jernej are investigating the changes of ownership of 20 hotels and villas in the Wörthersee communities of Velden, Pörtschach, Krumpendorf, Sekirn, Reifnitz and Maria Wörth during the Nazi era. Their joint research and reconstructions based on restitution applications and land registers shed light on suppressed and therefore little-known events in the history of “Lake Wörthersee architecture” and its often-Jewish owners. The publication brings together the research of historical photographs of affected buildings, which are mounted in current landscape photographs and thus re-localised.

Im Rahmen des künstlerischen Forschungsprojekts „einverleibt“ untersuchen Gisela Erlacher und Renate Jernej die Besitzerwechsel von 20 Hotels und Villen in den Wörthersee-Gemeinden Velden, Pörtschach, Krumpendorf, Sekirn, Reifnitz und Maria Wörth in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus. Ihre gemeinsamen Recherchen und Rekonstruktionen anhand von Rückstellungsansuchen und Grundbüchern beleuchten verdrängte und somit wenig bewusste Vorkommnisse in der Geschichte der „Wörtherseearchitektur“ und ihrer oft jüdischen Besitzer:innen. Die Publikation versammelt die Recherchen von historische Aufnahmen betroffener Gebäude, die in aktuelle Landschaftsaufnahmen montiert und damit wieder verortet sind.
