Description
In the year of remembrance 2025 - the 80th anniversary of the liberation from the Nazi regime - the association wants to commemorate August Pirker, who fought against the Nazis in Greece, in the form of a publication. In addition to his memories, the book also includes a biographical sketch of his activities in the resistance in Austria as well as a scholarly examination of his resistance in Greece in the context of the 999th Penal Battalion, which was sent there in 1943.

Im Gedenkjahr 2025 – in Erinnerung an die 80. Wiederkehr der Befreiung vom NS-Regime – will der Verein an August Pirker, der in Griechenland gegen den Nationalsozialismus gekämpft hat, in Form einer Publikation erinnern. Im Buch wird neben seinen Erinnerungen im Rahmen einer biografischen Skizze zum einen auch auf seine Tätigkeit im Widerstand in Österreich eingegangen und zum anderen sein Widerstand in Griechenland im Kontext des Strafbataillons 999, das 1943 dorthin geschickt wurde, wissenschaftlich beleuchtet.
