Description

In this autobiographical novel “Song of the Jackdaws” (Križ s križi), the author tells the story of his youth from 1939 to May 1945, first at the primary school in his home town and then at the (Nazi) teacher training college (LBA) in Krainburg. During the last months of the war, the sixteen-year-old was drafted into the Reich Labour Service (RAD). After the collapse of the Nazi regime, he completed his training at the teacher training college in Klagenfurt and began teaching at the primary school in Ebriach/Obirsko near Eisenkappel/Železna Kapla in 1948, where he worked for the rest of his life and was also active as an author, composer and creative artist.

Im vorliegenden autobiografischen Roman »Gesang der Dohlen« (Križ s križi) erzählt der Autor die Geschichte seiner Jugendjahre von 1939 bis Mai 1945, erst in der Volksschule im Heimatort und anschließend auf der (nationalsozialistischen) Lehrerbildungsanstalt (LBA) in Krainburg. Die letzten Kriegsmonate wurde der Sechzehnjährige zum Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) eingezogen. Nach Zusammenbruch des Naziregimes beendete er die Ausbildung an der Lehrerbildungsanstalt in Klagenfurt und begann 1948 an der Volksschule in Ebriach/Obirsko bei Eisenkappel/Železna Kapla zu unterrichten, wo er sein Leben lang tätig war und zudem als Autor, Komponist und Kulturschaffender wirkte.
