Holocaust Education und historisch-politische Vermittlung als Austragungsorte politischer Diskurse

 

The one-and-a-half-year project has two central areas of activity: a three-part series of workshops and an international conference. The workshops are primarily targeted at young people at upper secondary level and aim to convey a nuanced understanding of antisemitism, the Middle East conflict and cultures of remembrance. They are intended to strengthen the participants’ critical thinking skills and support them in reflecting on current social issues. The planned conference will take a particularly inclusive approach and does not exclusively address an academic audience, instead aiming to bring together a broad spectrum of participants, including activists, volunteers, experts in mediation work from both Austria and established partners from the international remembrance landscape, as well as students and other interested parties who wish to engage with the topic. A central concern is to integrate interdisciplinary and international perspectives through this exchange and to emphasise the diversity of approaches and experiences. This includes, in particular, taking into account the perspectives of different groups of Nazi victims.

Das eineinhalbjährige Projekt umfasst zwei zentrale Tätigkeitsfelder: eine dreiteilige Workshop-Reihe sowie eine internationale Tagung. Die Workshops richten sich primär an Jugendliche der Sekundarstufe II und zielen darauf ab, ein differenziertes Verständnis für Antisemitismus, den Nahost-Konflikt und Erinnerungskulturen zu vermitteln. Sie sollen die kritischen Denkfähigkeiten der Teilnehmenden stärken und sie in der Reflexion aktueller gesellschaftlicher Themen unterstützen. Die geplante Tagung zeichnet sich durch einen besonders inklusiven Ansatz aus, der nicht ausschließlich ein wissenschaftliches Publikum anspricht. Vielmehr soll sie ein breites Spektrum an Teilnehmenden zusammenbringen, darunter Aktivist:innen, Ehrenamtliche, Fachleute aus der Vermittlungsarbeit sowohl aus Österreich als auch von etablierten Partner:innen aus der internationalen Erinnerungslandschaft sowie Studierende und andere Interessierte, die sich mit der Thematik auseinandersetzen möchten. Ein zentrales Anliegen ist es, durch diesen Austausch interdisziplinäre und internationale Perspektiven zu integrieren und die Vielfalt der Ansätze und Erfahrungen zu betonen. Dies schließt insbesondere auch die Berücksichtigung der Perspektiven unterschiedlicher Opfergruppen des Nationalsozialismus ein.
