Commemorating Viennese Jewish Holocaust Victims Listed on the Wall of Names Memorial Via Simon Genealogy Geolocation Initiative (SWIGGI) Tours

 

The project aims to tell the life stories of the Nazi victims commemorated at the Shoah Wall of Names Memorial in Vienna. This includes information on their places of residence (SWIGGI Vienna), the stones of remembrance laid outside their former homes, their Yad Vashem memorial pages, family trees, and digital entries in the Simon Wiesenthal Holocaust Memorial. As part of the project, eight new SWIGGI tours will be developed, four of which will begin at the Wall of Names and head in one of the four cardinal directions (north, east, south and west).

Das Projekt hat zum Ziel, die Lebensgeschichten der in der Shoah Namensmauern Gedenkstätte in Wien verzeichneten NS-Opfer zu erzählen. Dabei werden ihre Wohnorte (SWIGGI Vienna), die vor ihren Häusern verlegten Stolpersteine, ihre Yad-Vashem-Gedenkblätter, ihre Familienstammbäume sowie ihre digitalen Einträge im Simon Wiesenthal Holocaust Memorial einbezogen. Im Rahmen des Projekts werden acht neue SWIGGI-Touren entwickelt, von denen vier an der Namensmauern Gedenkstätte beginnen und jeweils in eine der vier Himmelsrichtungen (Norden, Osten, Süden, Westen) führen.
