Sinti and Roma in the 20th century, exhibition in the Schloss Museum Linz

Sinti und Roma im 20. Jahrhundert, Ausstellung im Linzer Schlossmuseum

 

From September 2011 there was a permanent exhibition in a historical room under the new south wing of the Linz Schloss Museum, the subject of which is the history and culture of the Upper Austrian Sinti and Roma in the 20th century. The central focus of the presentation are original photographic images which prove that before the Second World War, at least during the cold times of year, most Upper Austrian Sinti lived among us as entitled citizens.

Der Verein exil.arte konzentriert seine Tätigkeit in diesem Jahr, April bis Dezember 20101, auf jüdische KomponistInnen, welche von den Nationalsozialisten bedroht ins Exil nach Amerika flüchten mussten. Aufgrund des qualitativ hohen kulturellen Standards um die Jahrhundertwende und danach in Wien, das ein Zentrum der Kunst und Wissenschaft war, waren auch viele KomponistInnen und MusikerInnen davon betroffen.
