Massacre at Peršmanhof – 80 years of remembrance and the trial of Márton Sándor

25 April 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Peršmanhof massacre. This brutal Nazi crime against the Slovenian ethnic group in Carinthia ranks among the most heinous of the final phase of the Nazi regime. Eighty years after the massacre, new historical sources have come to light. These promise to significantly advance academic research and dispel public misconceptions. In 2025, a symbolic year for remembrance culture, the Društvo/Verein Peršman plans to research these newly discovered sources and present its findings to the public.

Am 25. April 2025 jährt sich das Massaker am Peršmanhof zum achtzigsten Mal. Dieses Verbrechen zählt zu den brutalsten Endphasenverbrechen der Nationalsozialisten an der Kärntner slowenischen Volksgruppe. Achtzig Jahre nach dem Massaker konnten bisher unbekannte historische Quellen erschlossen werden. Diese lassen eine signifikante Vertiefung der wissenschaftlichen Aufarbeitungen erwarten und können öffentliche Falschannahmen entkräften. Der Društvo/Verein Peršman plant, diese neu entdeckten Quellen im Jahr 2025 – einem symbolträchtigen Jahr der Erinnerungskultur – zu beforschen und die Erkenntnisse öffentlich zu präsentieren.
