Gewalt in Österreich im Jahr 1938. Lokale Dynamiken und regionale Unterschiede

 

Although the political history of the "Anschluss" and the situation in Vienna are well documented, there has been little systematic research into the regional and local manifestations of violence. This workshop aims to address this gap by bringing together current studies, identifying research gaps, and developing new perspectives on anti-Jewish persecution in Austria. The workshop aims to provide a more nuanced view of the regional developments of antisemitic violence and persecution in 1938. It also aims to stimulate further regional and supraregional research. As a platform for academic exchange, it will also promote networking among researchers. The workshop will take place on 26 and 27 November 2025.

Während die politische Geschichte des „Anschlusses“ oder die Situation in Wien relativ gut dokumentiert sind, fehlen systematische Untersuchungen zu den regionalen und lokalen Ausprägungen der Gewalt. Der Workshop widmet sich dieser Forschungslücke, indem er aktuelle Studien zusammenführt, Forschungslücken identifiziert und neue Perspektiven auf die antijüdische Verfolgung in Österreich entwickelt. Ziel des Workshops ist es, eine differenzierte Perspektive auf die regionalen Entwicklungen antisemitischer Gewalt und Verfolgung im Jahr 1938 zu eröffnen. Der Workshop möchte Impulse für weitere regionale und überregionale Forschungen geben. Als Plattform für den wissenschaftlichen Austausch soll darüber hinaus auch die Vernetzung von Forschenden gefördert werden. Der Workshop findet zwischen 26.11.-27.11.2025 statt.
