The association exil.arte was founded in 2006 with the aim of preserving, researching and presenting the work of Jewish composers, performers, musicologists and theatre artists who were defamed as 'degenerate' during the Third Reich. The Exilarte Centre presents the music of these expelled and murdered composers in concerts, including world premieres. Prof. Gerold Gruber is the artistic director of these projects, curating the programmes and moderating the events. The performers are mainly students. Another concert series is planned for 2025.

Im Jahr 2006 wurde der Verein exil.arte gegründet, der sich der Bewahrung, Erforschung und Präsentation jüdischer Komponist:innen, Interpret:innen, Musikwissenschaftler:innen und Theaterkünstler:innen, die während des Dritten Reichs als "entartet" diffamiert wurden, widmete. Das Exilarte Zentrum hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, insbesondere die Musik dieser vertriebenen und ermordeten Komponist:innen in Konzerten zu präsentieren, teilweise sogar als Uraufführungen. Die künstlerische Leitung dieser Projekte obliegt a.o. Univ.-Prof. Dr.phil. Dr.h.c. Gerold Gruber, der die Programme kuratiert und die Veranstaltungen moderiert. Die Aufführenden sind vorwiegend Studierende. Auch 2025 ist wieder eine Konzertreihe geplant.
