Gedenkfeier "Judenzwangsarbeitslager Traunkirchen" mit Liedern und Chansons aus Theresienstadt

 

The project includes a commemorative speech and a historical introduction, followed by the programme item “I wander through Theresienstadt”. Songs and chansons from Theresienstadt. Theresienstadt stands for ghetto, hunger, epidemics, overcrowded quarters, inhumane hygienic conditions, fear of deportation, physical and mental exhaustion. But Theresienstadt is also synonymous with Nazi propaganda; a deception of the most perfidious kind, which was able to succeed because the many artists imprisoned there were able to engage in cultural activities within certain limits: concerts, opera and theatre performances, cabaret, readings, exhibitions. Under catastrophic conditions, an elite was at work, including talented amateurs, who never lost their creative power and humour in their daily struggle for survival and, as it were, practised intellectual resistance. The concert spans a wide range from classical songs to light music.

Das Projekt umfasst eine Gedenkrede und eine historische Einführung mit dem anschließenden Programmpunkt „Ich wandle durch Theresienstadt“. Lieder und Chansons aus Theresienstadt. Theresienstadt steht für Ghetto, Hunger, Seuchen, überfüllte Quartiere, inhumane hygienische Zustände, Angst vor Deportation, körperliche und seelische Entkräftung. Theresienstadt ist aber auch Synonym für Nazi-Propaganda; ein Täuschungsmanöver der perfidesten Art, das auch deshalb gelingen konnte, weil die vielen dort inhaftierten Künstler innerhalb gewisser Freiräume kulturelle Aktivitäten entfalteten: Konzerte, Opern- und Theateraufführungen, Kabarett, Lesungen, Ausstellungen. Da war unter katastrophalen Bedingungen eine Elite am Werk, begabte Amateure durchaus eingeschlossen, die im täglichen Überlebenskampf ihre Schaffenskraft und den Humor nie verlor und gleichsam geistigen Widerstand übte. Das Konzert spannt einen Bogen vom klassischen Liedgenre bis hin zur Unterhaltungsmusik.
