Description
The Festival of Joy 2026 will take place on 8 May 2026 on Heldenplatz in Vienna for the 14th time. The theme chosen for this year is “Perpetrators of Nazi crimes”. The Festival of Joy will again be streamed internationally in 2026 with English subtitles on the Mauthausen Committee Austria’s online platforms and broadcast across Austria by the ORF. Once again, there will be virtual activities surrounding the Festival of Joy focusing on the main theme and the 8 May. The highlight of the festival will once again be a speech delivered by a contemporary witness. The Festival of Joy in 2026 will be accompanied by music from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. The festival will also provide educational programmes.

Das Fest der Freude 2026 findet am 8. Mai 2026 zum 14. Mal am Wiener Heldenplatz statt. Für dieses Jahr wurde das Schwerpunktthema „Täter und Täterinnen im Nationalsozialismus“ gewählt. Das Fest der Freude wird auch 2026 international und mit englischen Untertiteln auf den Online-Plattformen des Mauthausen Komitees Österreich gestreamt und vom ORF österreichweit übertragen. Rund um das Fest der Freude wird es wieder virtuelle Aktionen zum thematischen Schwerpunkt und zum 8. Mai geben. Das Highlight des Fests wird wieder die Rede eines Zeitzeugen oder einer Zeitzeugin sein. Das Fest der Freude wird 2026 von den Wiener Symphonikern musikalisch bereichert. Das Fest wird durch Vermittlungsangebote erweitert.
