The Hebrew word “lishkoach” (forgetting) contains the word “koach”, which means both power and strength. The exhibition explores the power, but also the powerlessness, of forgetting from a cultural-historical perspective. It asks whether forgetting is merely the opposite of remembering, whether it simply signifies loss – or whether it can also be liberating. The exhibition aims to encourage visitors to view forgetting not merely as the opposite of remembering, but as part of a complex engagement with history and the present.

Im Hebräischen Lischkoach (Vergessen) ist das Wort Koach enthalten, das sowohl Macht als auch Stärke bedeutet. Über die Macht, aber auch über die Ohnmacht des Vergessens erzählt die Ausstellung aus kulturhistorischer Perspektive. Sie fragt, ob Vergessen nur das Gegenteil von Erinnerung ist, ob es lediglich Verlust bedeutet – oder auch Befreiung sein kann. Die Ausstellung will dazu anregen, Vergessen nicht nur als Gegensatz zum Erinnern zu begreifen, sondern als Teil einer komplexen Auseinandersetzung mit Geschichte und Gegenwart.
