Description
As part of the “Stones of Remembrance for the Victims of the Shoah” association in Vienna, 10 individually designed brass commemorative plaques are expected to be engraved and installed in the ground on public land. The plaques serve as visible memorials and symbols of remembrance. They are intended not only to commemorate the fate of those who were persecuted, but also to raise awareness of historical responsibility and the importance of remembrance within society. Another key component of the project is the research, maintenance and updating of the “Database of Persecutees” in the 3rd District of Vienna, as well as the ongoing development of the project website and the guide on “dort.at”.
The stones of remembrance are expected to be installed in 2026 at the following 10 locations in Vienna:
14th District: Cumberlandstraße 79; 2nd District: Ausstellungsstr. 37; 2nd District: Große Schiffgasse 6; 3rd District: Baumanngasse 3 (correct: Baumannstraße); 11th District: Ehamgasse 8; 3rd District: Landstraßer Hauptstraße 102; 3rd District: Bechardgasse 17; 2nd District Odeongasse 11; 1st District: Doblhoffgasse 7; 3rd District: Dapontegasse 7.

Im Rahmen des Vereins "Steine des Gedenkens an die Opfer der Shoah" in Wien werden voraussichtlich 10 individuell gestaltete Gedenktafeln aus Messing graviert und auf öffentlichem Grund im Boden montiert. Die Tafeln dienen als sichtbare Mahnmale und Erinnerungszeichen. Sie sollen nicht nur an das Schicksal der Verfolgten erinnern, sondern auch das Bewusstsein für die historische Verantwortung und die Bedeutung von Gedenken in der Gesellschaft stärken. Ein weiterer zentraler Bestandteil des Projekts ist die Recherche, die Pflege und Aktualisierung der "Datenbank der Verfolgten" im Bezirk Wien 1030 sowie die kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung der Projekt-Website und des Guides auf "dort.at".
