The 33rd edition of the Braunau Contemporary History Days will take place on 25 and 26 September 2026. This two-day academic conference will examine the historical origins and contemporary impact of antisemitic worldviews – in particular their dissemination in digital public spheres and forms of antisemitic disinformation. The focus is on the ideological roots of antisemitic conspiracy myths since the late 19th century, their role in Nazism and their transformation in digital communication spaces, where antisemitic narratives, conspiracy theories and forms of Holocaust denial circulate. To accompany the conference, workshops will be held for school classes from Braunau and the surrounding region. Narratives are increasingly spreading in online media that revive antisemitic stereotypes, relativise historical perpetrator-victim relationships or delegitimise the culture of remembrance. The Contemporary History Days place these developments in their historical context and analyse their ideological foundations within the history of antisemitism and Nazism.

Die 33. Zeitgeschichte-Tage Braunau finden am 25. und 26. September 2026 statt. Die zweitägige wissenschaftliche Tagung widmet sich der historischen Entstehung sowie der gegenwärtigen Wirkung antisemitischer Weltbilder – insbesondere ihrer Verbreitung in digitalen Öffentlichkeiten und Formen antisemitischer Desinformation. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die ideologischen Wurzeln antisemitischer Verschwörungsmythen seit dem späten 19. Jahrhundert, ihre Rolle im Nationalsozialismus und ihre Transformation in digitalen Kommunikationsräumen, in denen antisemitische Narrative, Verschwörungserzählungen und Formen der Holocaust-Relativierung zirkulieren. Begleitend zur Tagung finden Workshops für Schulklassen aus Braunau und der Region statt. In Online-Medien verbreiten sich zunehmend Narrative, die antisemitische Stereotype aktualisieren, historische Täter-Opfer-Verhältnisse relativieren oder Erinnerungskultur delegitimieren. Die Zeitgeschichte-Tage ordnen diese Entwicklungen historisch ein und analysieren ihre ideologischen Grundlagen im Kontext der Geschichte des Antisemitismus und des Nationalsozialismus.
