In fall 2008, the remembrance project "Lost neighborhood Buenos Aires – Vienna 2008” took place with great success. For two weeks, events were held in a large marquee in the center of Buenos Aires in the form of podium discussions, readings, lectures, film presentations and musical evenings. One of the aims of the project “Lost neighborhood” was to make contact with the surviving ex(iled)-Austrians, their families and descendants and to stay in touch in the long term. Happily, this could be achieved with many participants in and visitors to the project. The anthology “Lost neighborhood, Jewish Emigration from the Danube to the Rio de la Plata” is also dedicated to this project. It has already been published in the German language; the present request for funding is for a contribution to an Argentine publisher for the Spanish language edition. The production of the book is a very important contribution for the non-German speaking succeeding generations of the “Lost neighborhood”. In addition, the book also answers many questions and uncertainties in relation to Austria’s approach to dealing with the past, the latest restitution statistics and contains a series of individuals’ stories.

Im Herbst 2008 fand in Buenos Aires das Gedenkprojekt "Verlorene Nachbarschaft Buenos Aires - Wien 2008" mit großem Erfolg statt. 2 Wochen lang wurden in einem Großraumzelt im Zentrum der argentinischen Hauptstadt Veranstaltungen in Form von Podiums-Diskussionen, Lesungen, Vorträgen, Filmvorführungen und Musikabenden organisiert. Eines der Ziele, das sich das Projekt Verlorene Nachbarschaft vorgenommen hat, war, den Kontakt zu überlebenden Ex(il)-Österreichern, deren Familien und Nachkommen aufzubauen und vor allem bleibend zu erhalten. Erfreulicherweise konnte dies bei sehr vielen Teilnehmern und Besuchern des Projektes erreicht werden. Diesem Projekt ist auch der Sammelband "Verlorene Nachbarschaft. Jüdische Emigration von der Donau an den Rio de la Plata" gewidmet. Diese Publikation ist bereits in deutscher Sprache erschienen, das gegenständliche Ansuchen um Förderung bezieht sich auf einen Druckkostenbeitrag an einen argentinischen Verlag für die spanischsprachige Ausgabe. Die Herstellung des Buches ist ein ganz wichtiger Beitrag für die nicht mehr deutsch sprechenden Folgegenerationen der "Verlorenen Nachbarschaft". Zudem beantwortet das Buch auch viele Fragen und Unklarheiten in Bezug auf Vergangenheitsaufarbeitung in Österreich, den aktuellen Stand etwa von Restitutionszahlungen und erzählt eine Reihe von individuellen Schicksalen.
