The book is being published by Wagner Publishers, which has specialized in ecclesiastical contemporary history for years: Since its foundation in 1056, the Benedictine monastery Lambach in Upper Austria had never been so ultimately called into question as during the Nazi era (1938–1945). From the outset the Nazi regime helped itself to the monastery’s resources and the monks suffered ever worsening reprisals. In early July 1941 the Lambach Monastery fell victim to the Nazi seizure of monasteries and was confiscated and expropriated during a Gestapo raid “for the benefit of the German Reich”. The Abbot and the monks, with the exception of a few, were banned from the monastery. A “National Political Educational Institute” (NPEA, aka NAPOLA) was established in the monastery and its grounds as a Nazi elite school with titan conversion and development plans. Immediately after the invasion of the US troops on 4 May 1945 the seized monastery was provisionally restituted to the Benedictines of Lambach.

Das Buch erscheint im Wagner Verlag, der sich seit Jahren auf kirchliche Zeitgeschichte spezialisiert hat. Der Autor behandelt darin folgende Thematik: Seit der Gründung im Jahre 1056 war die Existenz der Benediktinerabtei Lambach in OÖ noch nie so ultimativ in Frage gestellt wie in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus (1938-1945). Von Beginn an greift das NS-Regime auf die Ressourcen des Stiftes zu und geht gegen die Mönche mit immer heftigeren Repressalien vor. Anfang Juli 1941 fällt das Stift Lambach dem NS-Klosterraub zum Opfer und wird bei einer Gestapo-Razzia „zu Gunsten des Deutschen Reiches“ beschlagnahmt und enteignet („aufgehoben“). Abt und Mönche werden bis auf einen Restkonvent aus dem Kloster ausgewiesen. Im Klosterareal etabliert sich eine „Nationalpolitische Erziehungsanstalt“ (NPEA, vulgo NAPOLA) als NS-Eliteschule mit gigantomanischen Um- und Ausbauplänen. Unmittelbar nach dem Einmarsch US-amerikanischer Truppen am 4. Mai 1945 wird das enteignete Stift den Benediktinern von Lambach provisorisch restituiert.
