Laying stones of remembrance in 2012: In the five and a half years since the foundation of the Association Stones of Remembrance the Association has laid 200 “stations of remembrance” in ten Viennese districts. Some of them recall Jewish life and Jewish history (paths of remembrance in the 2nd and 20th Districts), the majority is dedicated to former residents, with the stones being placed in front of their former addresses. The stones contain up to four names. In this way, around 800 people have so far been given back a place in their former homeland, which means a lot to their families as the stones of remembrance are often considered symbolic gravestones. Viennese Jews are also remembered from whose families no one survived. Tours with school groups convey the history in a personal and vivid way.

Errichtung der Steine der Erinnerung im Jahr 2012: In den fünfeinhalb Jahren seit Gründung des Vereins Steine der Erinnerung hat der Verein in 10 Wiener Gemeindebezirken 200 „Stationen der Erinnerung“ errichtet. Ein Teil erinnert an das jüdische Leben und die jüdische Geschichte (Wege der Erinnerung im 2. und 20. Bezirk), ein Großteil der Tafeln ist den ehemaligen EinwohnerInnen gewidmet und wird vor ihre früheren Häuser gesetzt. Die Tafeln enthalten bis zu vier Namen. So wurde bis jetzt rund 800 Menschen ein Platz in ihrer früheren Heimat zurückgegeben, was für die Angehörigen von großer Bedeutung ist, da die Steine der Erinnerung als symbolische Grabsteine empfunden werden. Es wird auch der jüdischen Wienerinnen und Wiener gedacht, aus deren Familie niemand überleben konnte. Führungen mit Schulklassen vermitteln auch den SchülerInnen und Schülern die Geschichte auf persönliche und eindringliche Weise.
