English subtitles for the film "Deserter!"

Englische Untertitelung des Films „Deserteur!“

 

Deserters were considered traitors who had broken their oath of honor and were sentenced to death by court martial by the Nazi court martial – the rocky road towards their rehabilitation leads to the very recent future. Eyewitnesses tell of their experiences. The subject was particularly taboo in the countryside, deserters and their families were stigmatized and wanted recognition for doing their humanitarian duty. The film “Deserter!”, sponsored by the National Fund in 2010, was invited to several festivals. It will be shown at the Raindance Festival in London, Festoria Film Festival in Portugal and the Forum of European Cinema in Poland, among others. The National Fund is requested to provide financial assistance towards the English subtitles of the film.

Deserteure galten als eidbrüchige Kriegsverräter und wurden von der NS-Justiz zum Tode verurteilt – der steinige Weg zur Rehabilitierung führt bis in die jüngste Gegenwart. ZeitzeugInnen berichten von ihren Erfahrungen. Besonders am Land gilt das Thema als tabu, Deserteure und ihre Familien leiden unter der Stigmatisierung und wünschen sich Anerkennung humanistischer Pflichterfüllung. Der im Jahr 2010 vom Nationalfonds geförderte Film „Deserteur!“ wurde auf verschiedene Festivals eingeladen. Er wird unter anderem beim Raindance Festival in London, beim Festoria Filmfestival in Portugal und beim Forum of European Cinema in Polen gezeigt. Der Nationalfonds wird um Unterstützung für die englische Untertitelung des Films gebeten.
