15 Mar 2023

For the second time, civic engagement against antisemitism and for educating people about the Holocaust was honoured with the Simon Wiesenthal Prize in Parliament. The award ceremony took place on 13 March 2023 in the National Council Chamber in Parliament.

The main prize was awarded to the Israeli civic commemoration initiative Zikaron BaSalon ("Commemoration in the Living Room"), in which private individuals invite Holocaust survivors into their homes and offer them the opportunity to share their memories. Waltraud Barton with her association IM-MER was awarded for her commitment to raising awareness about the Holocaust. The Palestinian peace activist Mohammed S. Dajani Daoudi received the award for his commitment against antisemitism.

The contemporary witnesses Wanda Albińska (Poland), Lucia Heilman (Austria), Tswi Herschel (Israel) and Jackie Young (Great Britain) were also honoured.
